Bluebird skies

Sterling and Mount Mansfield seen from the Madonna I Lift
Come on let’s go!
Upper Chilcoot

It was another gorgeous day here at Smuggs! The sun came out and worked its magic. It was so pretty with the bright white snow-covered trees against the deep blue of the sky. I had a great time doing a few cruisers and also a little powder stash hunting also. I was able to find many fresh turns in the trees. I know that there is more out there, so tomorrow I will go exploring again. Speaking of tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 52 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and machined groomed with average base depths of 14 to 50 inches. We are presently making snow on Lower Chilcoot. Currently, it is sunny and 4 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with a high of 18 degrees.

Sun rays through the trees

It was absolutely gorgeous today with the bluebird skies. There were ice crystals that were floating in the air. The sun shining through the ice crystals made a sundog, which is seen in the top photo to the right.  It also made some neat sun rays through the trees. Speaking of trees I had a blast skiing all the fresh snow that is in between them today!

Sterling and Mount Mansfield seen from the Madonna Lift I

Today started out a little cool but, the sun warmed things up nicely. This morning I had a great time on a powder stash hunt. I was able to find plenty of fresh snow in the trees. This afternoon this I took a few cruiser runs to take in all the amazing views. The 360 degree views from the summit of Madonna Mountain are pretty hard to beat.  You can see the White Mountains in New Hampshire off the backside of Madonna and looking in the opposite direction you have Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks of New York.

We are 100 percent open with top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. We have
