Today started off quite foggy, with temperatures near freezing at higher elevations. I skied over to the upper mountains this morning and rode the Madonna I Lift. The sky got brighter as I worked my way up the mountain. I could see some spots of blue skies when I got to the summit of Madonna. The sun burned off the fog, and we had beautiful sunny skies by midday. The sun also brought the temperatures up, we reached the upper 30’s at higher elevations and into the 40’s at the base. It was a gorgeous afternoon! If you were on the mountain today and you plan to hit the slopes again tomorrow, make sure to dry out all your gear. The temperature will be falling throughout the night and early morning. It is going to feel like winter again tomorrow, so dress for success! Tonight’s forecast is calling for a mix, becoming with snow and an inch of accumulation possible. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, breezy, with a high of 12 degrees at the base and 5 degrees at higher elevations. Currently, it is sunny and 35 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow, we plan to have all 8 lifts operating. We have 75 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 37 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Drifter, McPherson’s, Upper FIS, Snow Snake, Hibernator, Thomke’s Express, Snake Bite, and Smugglers’ Alley for a total of 141 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions will be machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 12 to 40 inches. The Extreme Challenge is on Sunday, Feb. 25th.
