FOG. Oh yeah, I got some skiing in too. I had to deal with a little bit of Snoop Dog’s favorite kind of precipitation… drizzle… but conditions made it well worth it.

I would like to you meet Long Island Rick. Rick and his family come to Smuggs every year. Rick follows Hugh’s Views a.k.a. Hugh’s Blog and photo of the day and makes wonderful comments on different posts. His comments are always positive and fun to read. I am going to share one of Rick’s posts to show you his love for winter, skiing, and all things Smuggs!

Rick said “So…I’m sitting at my daughter’s dance class and I hear a lovely lady say something about our weather on Long Island…”Well, it’s supposed to rain today and ALL of tomorrow. I’ll take rain and warm over snow and cold though.”
(DIRTY LOOK) Dramatic Pause…
Inside my head I said….”WHAT!!!! Are you kidding!” Who plays outside in winter rain? YUK! True lovers of winter love to play in the SNOW!” Right? And race on Thursday for cookies and RING COWBELLS and sometimes dress in crazy outfits like tutus on Tuesdays and visit the “Winters” in a teepee and Sing with a Friendly Pirate whenever they see him and hang out with Snow Reporter!
So…
I told her about Smuggs!

Cowbell is packed!
Cheers!”

Wow what a day it was! We received 5 inches of new snow overnight and 9 inches in the past 3 days. My first run of the day was Upper FIS. It was groomed last night and it had a beautiful blanket of fresh snow on top of the corduroy. I had to tell to you that stopping to take pictures took a great deal of discipline. All I wanted to do was to keep floating through the powder!

Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. We now have 74 trails open with terrain for all ability levels.

Retro outfits

Today was just amazing with new snow and beautiful sunny skies. I had a wonderful day skiing with my daughter Hannah. We did a three mountain tour.We started on Morse and then skied over to Madonna Mountain. We took a run on Drifter which was groomed last night. The snow was great and the views were even better. We found a bunch of fresh snow on the side of the trail to play in. We headed to Sterling Mountain next. Hannah really likes Thomke’s because of the way the trail cuts back and forth. We also like to check on the beautiful ice flow, which is on skier’s right before the short cut to Bootleggers. We then headed back to the Village for lunch. Hannah wanted to go to the Log Jam Terrain Park next located over at Morse Highlands.

Lori from Connecticut and I on the Mogul Mouse Lift

My son Hugh B joined us and we rode the Mogul Mouse Magic Lift. I rode single and was lucky enough to meet Lori from Connecticut. Lori and her family are homeowners here at Smuggs.  Their children are in our Mitey Mite Program. They make the trip up from Connecticut every weekend! I want to thank Lori and her family for their commitment.  I also want to thank them for choosing Smuggs. Lori told me that there are many resorts that are, of course, a lot closer to them, but they just love Smuggs and it worth the drive!
