Today’s forecast is calling for snow 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible and a high of 38 degrees. Currently it is snowing and 24 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph.

Tomorrow we plan to have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. The Madonna I Lift will not operate tomorrow due to icing. We plan to have 4 lifts operating tomorrow; Sterling, Village, Madonna II, and Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet. We plan to have 32 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 14 to 52 inches. 29 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Goat Path, Snow Snake, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 112 acres of freshly groomed terrain. The Riglet Park, Birch Run Terrain Park and Upper Zone will all be open tomorrow. The forecast for tomorrow is snow on top with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible, then mix at the base and a high of 42 degrees.

We have 7 lifts operating and 35 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 14 to 52 inches. All 35 trails have been groomed for today for a grand total of 138 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is 11 degrees at the summit of Sterling with flurries and winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for a chance of flurries early then mostly sunny skies with a high of 30 degrees. We plan to open the Madonna II Lift at 9 am. You can skin or hike from the top of the Madonna II Lift if you would like. Groomed terrain will be the best skiing and riding today.

I want to thank our groomers for all their hard work last night and early this morning. They were able to get a great deal done in a short amount of time. Temperatures will stay below freezing tonight, so we won’t have to do a late morning groom. We plan to have lifts running at the regular scheduled times. The Madonna 1 Lift will not operate tomorrow.  In the case of a lift evacuation the icy surface on Madonna Liftline would make it hard to get the skiers and rider off the mountain safely. Thank you for your understanding. Tomorrow we plan to have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating. We plan to have 37 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. All 37 trails will be groomed for tomorrow for a grand total of 138 acres of freshly groomed terrain. The best skiing and riding right now is the groomed terrain. The woods and back country are a little icy. They would be more enjoyable with a different surface condition.
