I want thank our snowmakers for all their hard work last night! They were busy making snow on the upper part of the Zone Terrain Park. We are stockpiling the snow in the Upper Zone! We have many events this season and one of my favorites is the Chillin n’ Grillin Tail Party / Pond Skimming. The snow in the Upper Zone is in reserve for when we need to build the “pond.” Our snowmakers will be busy again tonight in the Upper Zone.

New Snow

We received an inch of new snow last night, 7 inches in the past 5 days, and 313 inches this season so far!

We are 100 percent open! Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I lift. We have all 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches

Currently it is sunny and 8 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 0 to 5 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with temperatures between 12 and 28 degrees.

Clean sweep

I want to give a shout out to our lift attendants! We received an inch of new snow last night and the Madonna I lift crew had 174 chairs to clean off. It takes multiple sweeps to get each chair clean for riding pleasure. Cleans chairs help keep your buns warm! Thank you for all your hard work it is really appreciated!

Freefall, the Black Hole, and Madonna Liftline are open from the traverse on Upper FIS. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches. 42 trails have been groomed for today, including Bootleggers, Smugglers’ Alley, Snow Snake, and Hibernator for a grand total of 160 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

Currently it is 16 degrees at the summit of Sterling with partly sunny skies and winds of 0 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is partly sunny skies with temperatures between 19 and 29 degrees.

Brian at the top of the Village Lift

I would like you meet Brian. Brian is here at Smuggs with a couple of his best friends and their families. I rode the Village Lift with Brian today and we had a great conversation on the ride up. He told me that Smuggs is like no other and is the most unpretentious resort that he has ever been to. He went on to say that he really enjoyed Black Snake and all the fun trails that cut off from it. I hope you and your group have a wonderful time here at Smuggs!

We have 7 lifts operating and 43 trails have been groomed for today, that’s 158 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches.

New Snow

We received 2 to 3 inches of new snow last night, 15 inches in the past week, and 303 inches this season so far!

Partly sunny with snow squalls

Fresh lines

Today was pretty wild with how it could be snowing hard one minute and then the sun would come out the next. All in all it was a great day! The 21 inches of new snow that we have received in the past 4 days has made the conditions just fantastic. The groomers are wonderful and the snow in the trees is deep. I got to take a run with Billy Bob Bear and Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate this afternoon on Snow Snake. It was great to see the kids smiling and waving at them as they went by. I also saw smiles on the parents faces too!

Currently it is snowing hard and 20 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 15 to 25 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for snow showers 3 to 5 inches of accumulation possible with temperatures between 24 and 38 degrees.
