Quality family time

The forecast called for cloudy skies, but the sun decided to make an appearance. I got to take a couple runs with my wife and all 3 kids this afternoon on Madonna.  We had a great time on Upper Chilcoot, Lower Catwalk, Red Fox Glades, and Three Mountain Glades. The snow in the trees was wonderful. We all also enjoyed the Free Family Fun Race on Lower Madonna Liftline.  The kids made sure that we always ended our run on Lower Madonna Liftline, so that they could do the race again.

We are 100 percent open with top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. We have all 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Robin’s Run is open from the work road down to Freefall. Freefall is open from the traverse on Upper FIS. 37 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Shuttle, Bootlegger, and Curley’s Cutback for a grand total of 140 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for partly to mostly cloudy skies with a chance of flurries and a high of 34 degrees.

8 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours.

pat airtimeWhen you get 8 inches of new snow on Groundhog Day chances are pretty good that there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Today was a sleeper storm with only 4 inches of snow predicted to fall last night. The forecast was updated from 2” overnight to 4” overnight yesterday afternoon. I skied Upper FIS for my first and second run. It was groomed last night and with the 8 inches of new snow on top it was just heavenly. Everything I skied today was amazing. The wind was blowing straight up the mountain creating a constant refresh.

cloudOur groomers did a wonderful job on Drifter packing in the fresh snow. Our snowmakers are also back at it on McPherson’s and Playground today. They plan to move to Lower Madonna Liftline and Mulcahy’s Link tonight. 37 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Upper FIS, Thomke’s, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 146 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. We now have 67 trails open with terrain for all ability levels.

Great conditions and snowmaking

It was a little a cold today, but the snow is just so good. I found that the snow in the trees was the best today. It also keeps you warmer because you have to make a bunch of turns and you are not moving as fast. The coverage for this time of the year is amazing. Our snowmakers took advantage of the colder temperatures. They produced some huge snowmaking whales on Lower FIS, Lower Madonna Liftline, Link to Sterling, and Mulcahy’s Link.  Our groomers will flatten the snowmakine whales tonight on Lower Madonna Liftline, Mulcahy’s Link, and Link to Sterling. 26 trails will be groomed tonight for a grand total of 117 acres of freshly groomed terrain.
