Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 18 to 48 inches. 14 trails have been groomed for today, including Snake Bite, Smugglers’ Alley, Jolly Rodger, Thomke’s Express, and Black Snake for a grand total of 45 acres.

The calendar says that today is last day of winter, but we have a bunch of skiing and riding to go! We have deep base depths with more snow in the forecast! The forecast says that snow will start tomorrow night and continue into Saturday morning with up to 17 inches of accumulation possible!

Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. We have 65 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and spring conditions with average base depths of 20 to 50 inches. We plan to groom 37 trails tonight, including Drifter, Snow Snake, and Snake Bite for a grand total of 144 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

We have 77 out of 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches. 41 trails have been groomed for today, including Upper FIS, Dixie’s Knoll, and Snake Bite for a grand total of 156 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

World Famous Cookie Race

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOne of the great things about the Cookie Race is that it lets the kids show what they have learned while studying at Snow Sport University. They can show off their turning skills to the cheering crowd as they race down the course. These brave racers are rewarded with a cookie at the finish line!

We plan to groom 44 trails tonight, including Ruthie’s, Dixie’s Knoll, and Snake Bite for a grand total of 158 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We also plan to groom Jolly Rodger and Lower Black Bear tonight.

Giant Slalom Race

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALocal high school racers battle it out on Snake Bite and the Practice Slope today. The second run for the girls will begin around 12:30 pm and the second run the boys will begin around 1:00 pm. Stop by and check out all the action. If you are headed back to Parking Lot 1, please look up before crossing the race course to make sure no one is coming.

Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches. 34 trails have been groomed for today, including Upper Drifter, Thomke’s, and Upper FIS from the Doc’s cutoff down for a grand total of 143 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We will continue to check the winds and the lower mountain lifts may open later today. Snake Bite is closed today for the Eastern Cup Giant Slalom Race today. Black Snake is open down to Harvey’s Hideaway.

Today’s race is a slalom race which starts at the top of Snake Bite and goes down onto the Practice Slope. The caliber of these skiers is just amazing!  These are some of the best racers on the east coast and they are here to take on what ever Smuggs has to offer. Tomorrow’s race is a giant slalom which will begin at the pine tree start on Black Snake, which is near the top of Harvey’s Hideaway. These racers will built up speed on Black Snake before plunging onto the steep pitch of Snake Bite. They will be holding on with all they have to make it around each gate as they work their way down Snake Bite. Spectators are welcome. Black Snake will be closed tomorrow from the top of Harvey’s Hideaway down and Snake Bite will also be closed tomorrow for the race.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
