Powder Day

We received 6 inches of new snow overnight, and we are just getting started. Today’s forecast is snow showers with 10 to 14 inches of accumulation possible, with a high of 31 degrees at the base and 28 degrees at higher elevations. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day. Tonight’s forecast is also snow with another 2 to 4 inches. Currently, it is snowing and 27 degrees at the summit of Sterling. We plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. We have 23 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches. More photos to come once the lifts are turning.

22 inches of new snow in the past 4 days made for some wonderful skiing and riding today. Tomorrow, we plan to have Sterling Lift operating with 20 trails open. We have intermediate and expert terrain available at this time, but we plan to have beginner terrain open soon. 6 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley, for a total of 25 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches. Currently, it is partly sunny and 27 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance of mix and snow, with a little accumulation possible, with a high of 39 degrees at the base and 34 degrees at higher elevations.

The Madonna I Lift and Madonna II Lift are presently on wind hold. The Sterling Lift is now open. We have 8 trails open with terrain for intermediates and experts only. All 8 trails have been groomed for today. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 12 to 50 inches. Currently, it is partly sunny and 24 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 20 to 25 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies, windy with a high of 40 degrees at the base and 29 degrees at higher elevations. The last day of the 2022/2023 Season is this Sunday, April 9th.

This weekend we plan to have the Madonna 1 Lift and Sterling Lift operating. We plan to have 33 trails open with terrain for intermediates and experts only.

Tomorrow we plan to have the Madonna I Lift and Sterling Lift operating. We plan to have 23 trails open with terrain for intermediates and experts only. We plan to groom 20 trails for tomorrow, including Upper FIS, Drifter, Smugglers’ Alley, and Thomke’s for a grand total of 77 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and spring conditions with average base depths of 12 to 50 inches. Currently, it is 30 degrees at the summit of Sterling with light rain and winds of 20 to 30 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with a chance of showers, and wind, a high of 55 degrees at the base, and 51 degrees at higher elevations. The closing day of the 2022/2023 Season is Sunday, April 9th.

We also have lots of snow on those upper mountains, so come out and enjoy it! The last day of operations for the Winter 2022-2023 season is this Sunday, April 9th. Bring your Mother and another.

More trails may be opened throughout the day as conditions soften. 24 trails have been groomed for today, including Upper FIS, Smugglers’ Alley, Thomke’s Express, and Drifter for a grand total of 90 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine-groomed and variable with average base depths of 12 to 50 inches. Currently, it is partly cloudy and 20 degrees at the summit of Madonna with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies with a chance of rain or snow late, a high of 49 degrees at the base, and 37 degrees at higher elevations. This Saturday, April 9th is the last day of the 2022/2023 Winter Season.

Today we have 6 lifts operating. The Madonna 1 Lift is presently on wind hold. We have 29 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 20 trails have been groomed for today, including Rumrunner, Lower FIS, and Garden Path. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 8 to 30 inches. Currently it is cloudy and 31 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 15 to 30 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for rain becoming snow showers with a high of 37 degrees at the base and 33 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day.

The Nordic Center is open with 15 km of snowshoeing and 17 km of cross-country trails. The ice rink is presently closed.

This weekend the featured beer for the apres sports parties at Bootlegger’s and the Black Bear Tavern is Bud Light.

It’s a little foggy this morning

All lifts will have a delayed opening until 9 am due to low visibility. Today we plan to have the Sterling Lift, Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider all operating. We plan to have 16 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 15 trails have been groomed for today, that’s a grand total of 69 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 8 to 24 inches. Currently, it is foggy and 34 degrees at the summit of the Village Lift with winds of 0 to 5 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for a chance of rain and freezing rain, foggy with a high of 35 degrees.

All lifts will have a delayed opening until 9 am due to grooming. We have terrain for all ability levels with 19 trails open. All 19 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 8 to 26 inches. Currently, it is partly cloudy and 28 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for snow showers and mixed precipitation at the base with less than an inch of accumulation possible. Due to the predicted high winds and possible power outages lift services will be closed on Friday, December 23rd. We plan to reopen on Saturday, December 24th.
