Saturday: Snow and sleet, becoming all snow after 8 am. High near 31 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

We have 5 intermediate trails, 5 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open today. Currently, it is 12 degrees at the summit of Sterling with clear skies and winds of 0 to 5 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for sunny skies with increasing clouds, a chance of snow showers later in the day, and a high of 32 degrees. Last night we made snow on Lower Rumrunner. We are presently making snow on Lower Madonna Liftline and Mulcahy’s Link. All 11 trails have been groomed for a grand total of 46 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches.

Tomorrow we plan to have 4 lifts operating and 11 trails open. We plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Village Lift to the top, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. We plan to have 5 intermediate trails, 5 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open tomorrow. All 11 trails will be groomed for tomorrow for a grand total of 46 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Another great day on the slopes

Currently, it is partly sunny and 17 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 15 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance of snow showers before 11:00 am then a chance of mix with a high of 37 degrees. Tomorrow we plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift to mid-station, and the Village Lift open to the top. We have 5 intermediate trails, 5 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open tomorrow. All 11 trails will be groomed for tomorrow that’s a grand total of 42 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Tonight we are making snow on the Practice Slope, Midway Spur, and Meadowlark.

Uphill travel will be closed tonight through Tuesday night due to snowmaking and grooming. Once we have more snow there will be more options. Your patience is appreciated.

It’s snowing again

Currently, it is snowing and 17 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance of showers between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, then rain and wind after 3:00 pm with a high of 43. Lift service may be affected by the wind. Weather permitting tomorrow we plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. We have 5 intermediate trails, 4 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open at this time. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 18 to 40 inches.

Mask wearing is mandatory! You should wear your mask in line, in the parking lot, and on the chair. You can ski or ride without your mask, but please put it back on before going into the lift corral. Thank you for your understanding. We want to have a safe season!

Tuesday Night A 50 percent chance of snow showers before 1 am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Currently, it is cloudy and 28 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow we plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. We have 5 intermediate trails, 4 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open at this time. All 10 trails will be groomed for tomorrow. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 18 to 40 inches. Colder temperatures are in the forecast for Tuesday night and we plan to resume snowmaking at that time.

More terrain opens

Lower Morse Liftline is now open from Mogul Mouse’s mid-station. Currently it is cloudy and 27 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a high of 34 degrees. Today we have the Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. We have 5 intermediate trails, 4 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open today. All 10 trails have been groomed for today; that’s 38 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 18 to 40 inches.

Uphill travel will be allowed Tuesday through Thursday morning from 5:30 am till 7:30 am on Sterling snowmaking trails. You must be off the mountain by 8:00 am. Please park in Lot #3. Stay tuned for more uphill travel information.

We presently have 5 lifts operating, Sterling, Morse Highlands, Village, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, and Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet. We plan to open the Madonna II lift at 1:30 pm this afternoon due to grooming. The Madonna I lift is presently on hold. Ski Patrol is presently checking trail conditions on Madonna and this report will be updated as soon as possible. We plan to have around 35 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 14 to 52 inches. Currently it is cloudy and 18 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a high of 34 degrees.

We have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I lift. 1 to 2 inches of new snow overnight and 23 inches in the past 6 days. Great conditions!

Smuggs Family Member

Robin Frey is a snowboarder and skier from West Virginia. He is on break from school and is enjoying his time off here at Smuggs. Robin and his family are staying here at Smuggs. This is Robin’s first time vacationing at Smuggs and I bet it won’t be his last. Robin told me that he enjoys terrain parks, so I told him that the Birch Run Terrain Park on Sterling Mountain opened yesterday. This information put a smile on Robin’s face as he headed for the Birch Run Terrain Park.

Today we have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Morse Highlands Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. We have 20 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 12 to 48 inches. The snow is soft and edgeable. All 20 trails have been groomed for today for a grand total of 86 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is foggy and 35 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for a chance of rain with a high of 42 degrees.
