THE BEST OF WINTER 2011-2012
Little snowboarders get their own learning and play park Smugglers' has been working with Vermont's Burton Snowboards to develop the next generation of the Burton Riglet Park, an on-snow play area with fun terrain features designed for introducing young children to snowboarding. The park's focal point is a "treehouse," an elevated platform with ramps that children can ride down, a balance area inside the treehouse and a lift chair that swings to help kids practice getting on and off the lift. Playing in the park on small rolling hills, miniature box-style rails, pyramids and a mini-halfpipe allows children to gain the necessary balance and muscle memory to begin sliding and making turns on sloped terrain. The park is located at the Resort's Sir Henry's Learning Area with conveyor lift access.
Group lessons expand to two-hour format Smugglers' is expanding its group lesson experience to two hours, increasing the value for skiers and riders of all levels by allotting additional time for learning, feedback and practice with the Resort’s Snow Sport University teaching staff. Skiers and riders have the choice of a morning group lesson or an afternoon MAX5 group lesson with a maximum of five participants. Daily two hour group lessons are included in the Resort's Classic and Summit vacation packages.
Child care for ages 6 weeks to 3 years included in winter vacation packages Families vacationing on Smugglers' Classic or Summit packages will enjoy complimentary use of Smugglers' slopeside child care center for little ones ages 6 weeks to 3 years old (see below for package details). Zip Line Canopy Tour celebrates first anniversary! Smugglers' year-round ArborTrek canopy tour, the first of its kind in Vermont, will celebrate its one year anniversary in December 2011. Participants on the 2.5 to 3-hour tour, located in a scenic valley near the Resort Village, ride more than 4,000 feet of cable on nine sections of zip line, cross a suspension bridge, and rappel from trees. Scenic tree platforms in a mature forest of hemlock, white birch and sugar maple yield stunning views of the Resort, Mount Mansfield and the Green Mountains. In keeping with the Resort's commitment to environmental stewardship through nature-focused programs that combine learning and fun, canopy tour guides highlight local ecology and natural history.
