Lunch on the Black Bear Patio with the Cohens. Barry is a big fan of the Hot Chocolate and Anna and Jade like the Chipotle Tomato soup.

Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. I spent day 2 skiing with my friends the Cohens from Philadelphia, PA. I met them 15 years ago during their summer week at Smuggs. Then we skied together when they came up the following winter and just about every winter since. We’ve also enjoyed Smuggs events together like the Top of Notch Snowshoe Dinner, Marko’s Magic Shows, and Goodtime Charlie shows. They are proud long-time Smugglers. On my way to meet them I saw another long-time Smuggler, Anna Willis. In the past 8 years, she’s worked in several departments.

Jade

Jade is all smiles as she gets ready to ski Smugglers’ Alley and then Poachers Woods.

Jade is picking her lines in Poachers Woods. This was our trail pick today.

Anna

Long-time Smuggler Anna Willis has worked at Treasures Child Care, the Country Store, and now she’s a LIFTIE! Not only that, she’s been skiing and riding here for 15 years (that’s over two thirds of her life).

Clear and cold

Good Morning from Morse Mountain!

Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. Weather… we’ve had it. 27 inches of POW in the past 5 days and some “nippy” temps too. Temps will be rising throughout the day but the sun may go into hiding. I had a great run on Pirate’s Plank yesterday and I highly recommend any gladed trail for your skiing and riding enjoyment.

Smugglers’ Notch Adaptive Program

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASmugglers’ Notch Adaptive Program (SNAP)

Our adaptive program provides therapeutic recreation for children and adults of all abilities.

Experiences are tailored to meet the needs and goals of each individual. Some campers/students may require two counselors/instructors, while others may be appropriately paired with one counselor.

We also offer an inclusion program with our ski and snowboard programs for children. This gives a child with special needs the opportunity to socialize with his/her peers while still maintaining the support he/she needs through the adaptive program.

There is no age limit for the program. Half and full day lessons are available. Our highly trained instructors will evaluate each individual’s needs and goals and determine their equipment requirements. Smugglers’ Adaptive Program maintains an inventory of adaptive equipment including mono-skis, bi-skis and a slider. Snowboarding is also available.

Advanced reservations are required in order to meet each individuals needs. Due to popular demand we have limited space during our peak weeks. Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. Please make your reservation as early as possible. The adaptive camp/lesson must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund. No refund will be given within 24 hours of the start of camp/lesson.

For further information about our school programs, pricing information, or to book a reservation please call the Smugglers’ Adaptive Program directly at (802)644-8502 or email Shawna Fatigate, Program Manager

#smuggslove

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI would like you to meet Sheena Petal and her 1 year old daughter Addie.  Four years ago on a very cold day Addie’s parents Sheena and Jay took a Cat Trax Tour to the top of  Madonna Mountain. I was on that Cat Trax Tour with Sheena and Jay. When we got in the heated cabin of the groomer they informed us that they were going to get married on top of the mountain. They had a Justice of the Peace along with them to perform the ceremony. I remember joking with them on the cat ride up the mountain that it was not going to rain on your wedding day. It was a beautiful ceremony and one I will never forget. The funny thing is last night on the Cat Trax Tour  up Madonna Mountain, I was telling the story of Sheena and Jay getting married when it was -25 degrees. Then today I ran into Sheena and Addie in front of Treasures Day Care. I told Sheena that I was just talking about you! Sheena and Jay have been coming to Smuggs ever since getting married here. Sheena and Addie were going to check out Treasures Day Care, so that Mommy and Daddy could go make some turns.  It was wonderful to run into you and Addie today!
