Unearth The Past

View a video about the Archaeology Dig.
Archaeology of the Algonquin - Discover the ancient cultural history of Vermont and join an archaeological excavation of a 1000-year-old Algonquin Indian site along the banks of the Lamoille River. The Lamoille Project is a multi-phased archaeology project designed to contribute to our understanding of the Lamoille River’s 10,000 year cultural History. Working with local farmers, land owners, and the Vermont Division of Historic Preservation, our goal is to document and investigate prehistoric sites along this little studied river. Currently we are working a 1,000 year old site at nearby Boyden Farm in Cambridge. Under the direction of Corbett Torrence, who has over 25 years experience directing archaeological projects in New England, Florida, and the Caribbean you will be conducting excavations with tools such as shovels, trowels, dental picks, brushes, and sifter-sceens.
