Our Guests Want to Know - Frequently Asked Questions

* "Is the road between Stowe & Smugglers' Notch open?"
Route 108 through historic Smugglers’ Notch Pass is very steep and winding. This 4 mile stretch of scenic road connects Stowe and Smugglers’ Notch Resort. We suggest using caution when driving through “The Notch”. Although this road is open from mid-May through mid-October, it is closed in the Winter, and closed year round to motorcoaches, motor homes and commercial vehicles.   Directions

"Where do we check-in?"
As you turn into our Resort from Route 108 bear right and proceed to the parking lot on your left. Follow the signs for Guest Registration and Information. Walk under our Welcome Sign. The Guest Service Desk is located in The Village Center building behind the Clock Tower. Please check-in as soon as you arrive in the Resort, and then enjoy our facilities. Expect to be in your condominium home after 5:00 pm.

"What supplies will be in my Village Home?"
Homes are ready for your arrival with bath towels, linens, blankets and pillows. Your condominium will also have hotel size bars of bath soap, toilet paper, paper towels, dish towels, dish soap, sponges and trash bags.

The kitchen in your Village Home includes pots, pans, plates, glasses, silverware, cooking utensils, a toaster and an auto-drip coffeemaker. All Village Homes (studio and larger) have a stove and refrigerator. All Village Homes either have a stacking washer and dryer or have access to a washer and dryer in the building. Private rooms do not have a kitchen.

"Are towels provided at the pools?"
You are welcome to use the bath towels from your Village Home, but most people prefer a larger beach towel. We suggest that you bring along a beach towel from home to use at the pools and waterslides.

"Are BBQ grills available?"
There are charcoal BBQ grills with picnic tables placed conveniently throughout the Resort. Smugglers’ Notch is concerned with our environment, therefore, lighting fluid is not allowed. Our Country Store sells pre-treated charcoal and selected meats for your convenience.

"What do we do if it rains?"
All of our programs still operate during inclement weather. For your convenience, we also provide local day trip information and rainy day itineraries, available at the Guest Service Desk.

Traveling to & from Canada

Children age 18 and under will be able to enter with proof of citizenship. Verbal claims of citizenship and identity alone will not be sufficient to establish identity and citizenship for entry into the United States.

U.S. resident aliens will also need a Green Card.

All other foreign country residents will need their valid passport with I94 document. If you are crossing the American/Canadian border and do not have your I94 document with you, you will need your valid passport and a visa. There will be a nominal fee to prepare the I94 documentation for you.
